Now i've decided to give my hair a break from te hairdryer and have it curly but there is just frizz now, does anybody know of anything i can buy to bring the curls back and make my hair more heatlhy. thanks in advance.

ok!same way here ..i have curly hair and i strighten it when i want to go back i wet it ...then i apply anti-frizz serum[[any brand]] then i scrunch it alot ..to make then cute use your finger and make spirals ....maybe you could try a combing through before you scrunch so that there are no knots...if you have any more questions,ill be glad to answer

Get a leave in treatment to start with to repair the damage. next up try some frizz ease by john frieda. i swear by it! i use the anti frizz serrum and dream curls spray. works wonders on my frizz!

since you have been straightening your hair for quite a while, it is probably dried out.

i suggest that first you go to a salon and get some sort of hydrating mask or treatment for your hair.

and as for products, i'd suggest either

herbal essences none of your frizzness or herbal essences totally twisted.

i think your curly hair will be back for some time. from my experience i naturally have straight black hair. but i made it curly and bronze and then my hair was really dry. and then i went to sauna room and put a lot of hair conditioner on my hair.. unbelievable i've been doing that for only 2-3 days,, my hair became healthy again.

John Frieda makes an anti-frizz... um... It's called "Curl Around" shampoo and conditioner. Besides smelling amazing, it really does smooth out frizz, and if your hair is naturally prone to curls, it will help bring them back. It's not the best curling shampoo out there, but it's pretty good for your hair and it's not horridly expensive. (Dove is good and moisturizing, but it will leave nasty build-up in your hair.) When you get out of the shower, let your hair dry to dampness and mix a little bit of gel with some leave-in conditioner and spray it in your hair. Lightly comb through and tussle it. After that you could try winding your damp hair around some foam rollers - the foam will be gentle on your damaged hair. If you're having frizz problems, I'd stay away from a curling iron. It will only make it worse :)

Hair straighteners (hair straightening irons) need to be cleaned every now and then with a wet cloth to remove residue froom heat protection sprays etc., or else their performance is not as good. How often are you supposed to clean your hair straighteners?

I agree with after every straightening. Heat styling tools get buildup FAST with all the product used to protect hair. Product left on straighteners burns, then it burns into your hair. Yuck! What I do is dampen a non-abrasive washcloth and gently wipe the plates clean. No build up, ever!

I have a 1 in. Hai ceramic straightener and long hair about 5-7 inches past my shoulders. is there a certain way i should straighten my hair to get it thefullest and shiniest it can be. b.c sometimes when i straighten my hair it gets kind of piecy instead of full and smooth. i know my hair wont be perfect, but any tips?

btw: i know how to straighten hair, i know in layers and small sections. but anything beyond that?

I am telling you from personal experience... especially if you live in the high static part of the country right now (Kentucky), when using your ceramic flat iron, I would suggest instead of going out and buying high priced pre-treatment for your hair at a salon, go to a Walmart or any drugstore that has a nice selection of hair products (CVS or Walgreen閳ユ獨) and look for John Frieda閳ユ獨 Frizz Ease and a good shampoo for shine. A lot of dullness comes from the type of shampoo we use, so if you want volume and shine, find (and stick with) a good shampoo and conditioner that "clarifies". AVOID PANTENE PRODUCTS. Even a professional will tell you this. They smell nice, but cause buildup on the scalp and hair causing a dull tone. You might find Color Vive has products for all ranges of hair and problems. There is one with an antioxidant feature that strengthens and also adds shine. It has worked for me... and I have processed (color treated) hair. After you wash your hair and your hair is still wet, add a dab of the John Frieda閳ユ獨 Original Frizz Ease. From the length of your hair, I would suggest 2 quarter sizes if your hair is thick. One if it is fine in texture. Blow dry and then straighten. The Frizz Ease works great with the iron unlike anything I have ever used before and it doesn't cause me to break out. Follow it up with a glossing spray my John Frieda. You can't go wrong with these products for the price. I have used them for years and highly recommend them. So for the volume and the shine, there you go.

There is no way you can do this im afraid. However there are things you can do to help.

Wear your hair up in a high pony tail when swimming. This will stop too much water going on it in the first place which will limit the frizz/curling up again. Also wear a thick hair band around your head.

You can also buy products which protect the hair from moisture... but an actual swimming pool is moisture to the extreme and they are more meant for humid weather, light rain etc.... so they will help in these circumstances.

GHD protection spray contains a light hairspray type product which helps for the above conditions - humid weather etc. Its not a mircle but its the best ive tried in helping keeping hair straight. Also apply a de frizz serum.

Also there is the benefit that you will use the iron a lot less if the hair is straighter to begin with. You still might use it some though.

They usually cost about 200 dollars but if catch them on sale they can be anywhere between 70 and 100 dollars. You can also use straigtening products that help get your hair straighter, like beyond the zone straight shot. My hair still has bounce. If you do do it you have to remember to keep your hair moisturized otherwise it will break off.

I made mistake of using someone who did not know what they were doing and was just starting out as a hair dresser, and she nearly ruined my scalp, permanently!

someone i know just got is straightened and her hair was EXTREMELY curly before. it looks really good. It was flat for the first day or two but after you wash and dry it yourself, it looks really good. the only bad part is that it grows in curly, so if you dont get it touched up every couple of months it will be half straight and half curly.

i guess it all depends on your hair type. My cousin had it done a while ago, and for the 7-8 months that it lasted it looked wonderful (then again, she loves anything that adds volume to her hair, so i couldn't tell you if it was "dead and dangling" or not)

But there is also another girl I know who had it done a month or so ago and it looks terrible!.

If you still are considering getting it done, I would do a little research (sorry). If you can find a salon that is professional and specializes in processes like that, go for it. Otherwise, I'd wait and invest in a really good flat iron.

i put relaxers/chemical straightners in my hair...mom used to put them in my hair when i was younger because that was easier for her to deal with. as a child, it was easy to put my hair up in braids, but when i got to be school age, wearing braids was too "kiddish"...mom's option was to have a beautician relax my hair...to this day, i have continued to put relaxers in my hair. some ppl cant put them in their hair..i have never experienced hair loss from relaxers, so i cant say anything bad about them. i dont go to beauticians, i do the home kits, and still no problem....its cheaper doing them yourself, but if its your first time, i would go to a beautician.

Well..I use a Conair straightener..its not expensive its as great as ones that air..Also, Bed Head is a good product just for like frizzy-ness and such, any thing that holds fly-away hair from..in fact flying away! Also I would suggest Redken as a shampoo, its not expensive either.

She could always get a chemical straigten, which would leave it straight for like 3 months or perm. straightening..which is..perm. Good luck

I have a chi straightener which I absolutely love! It's the best, it works so well and it doesn't damage my hair. It has ceramic plates, that don't rip or burn hair. I just recommend that she doesn't straighten her hair everyday because that is usually what caues the damage. Chi's are expensive (a little under $200), but the amount I use it is worth it. Chi also have a line of hair products that you can use with the straightener to prevent damage.

just let it dry naturally for a while and get a different kind of shampoo that is especially for dry and damaged hair. dont do anything to it and just put it up or wear it natural with anti-frizz product in it, i'm sure it's not dreadful natural. if you have side bangs only straighten your side bangs and if you dont want to wear it up in a bun or a pony tail then wear it down with a band

You are damaging your hair, if you put heat on it everyday that's not good. You need to go to a salon, have them cut off the dead ends-because your hair will not become healthy w/ split ends. I JUST bought a new CHI straightner and it seems my hair wont straighten without going over the peice about 5 times.

yes u do have to keep going over it a few times.. i have a CHI also. i've read everywhre that it's the best one.. =T. what i do is try to dry my hair naturally... then put a CHI serum on, or conditioner, and wait a few minutes to soak in, and then use the CHI.

also, if ur in a bind, blow dry ur hair, but try to leave in a towel for 5 minutes, then naturally dry for 5-10 minutes, then blow dry.

I have perfected the Chi straigthening game. First, when drying your hair, use a dab of Chi smoothing serum. Apply a second dab once hair is completely dry. Then, it is a MUST that you use a styling spray. It protects your hair from the Chi's heat, it adds great shine to your hair, and it aids with the straightening process. I have used straighteners for 3 years+ and according to my hairdresser my hair is in good condition.

Heres what I do:

Condition my hair every time I wash. I use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner.

When straightening (and this is really important!) run the straighteners through the hair quickly and repeatedly, do not hold them on the hair in one place.

Using a hot style constructor can help.

Put the hairdryer on a cool setting and blast through the hair at the end of the styling.

Get hair trimmed regularly so split ends don't have a chance.

I use GHD's. Check out their website for tips.

If your hair is damaged, you may need to have it cut. You didn't mention if you bleach or dye your hair. This may have an impact on the condition.

first off get a hair cut because if you don't then the split ends will move further up your hair, damaging it even more and then you'll have to cut of even more. Secondly try a special conditioner such as frizz-ease's straightening one which is designed specifically for use with hair straighteners so it will protct your hair. Also use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. If you can stay off the hair straighteners for a while too just to let your hair recover.

I find the best thing for heat or colour damaged hair is something called the Australian 3-minute Restorative Conditioner. It comes in a big bottle or little sachets for single use. Try a sachet first - wash your hair as normal and use this as a conditioner. It says to leave for 3 minutes and then rinse. I usually leave it on for about 5-6 minutes. It really works wonders!! (Boots, Superdrug and Sainsburys usually sell it.)

I don't know personally but a friend of mine said that it really made her hair weak and brittle. You should try a leave in conditioner like Garnier Sleek and Shine and just blow dry it straight unless your hair is longer then I would suggest using a straightener, but I am just assuming that your hair is short so using the leave in conditioner with the blow drying would do it. ok i'm a guy with hair down to about my eyes. I started using a hair straightening iron because my hair is so wavy that it is impossible to do without at this length. It looks amazing straight :) but i need some advice since I'm new.

1) I'm straightening it once a day because my hair goes back to usual after it's wet. Is this too often?

2) Do hair straightening creams work well enough so that I can use it often enough to give my hair a break from the iron? can I use it in my hair while ironing?

3) I use a good conditioner very thoroughly. What other products can I use to protect my hair from iron damage? I've heard of balms, heat protection etc,,, but i'm clueless to this stuff

1) No it's not too often if you're using a high quality ceramic/tourmaline plate iron and a thermal spray.

2) No straightening creams or shampoos will not make your hair straight without styling tools - at least a blow dryer

3) Conditioner doesn't protect you from damage. At cheapest, V05 Miracle Mist does great for thermal protection and holding the straight style.

4) Yes you can apply the thermal protection sprays on your hair at the time of iron use. Just don't soak your hair with it, spray LIGHTLY.

I'm a guy who flat irons too :D

1) once a day is too much, you'll be fine if you wash your hair every other day.if it messes up when you sleep on it, try wearing a bandanna to bed to keep your hair put, and touch up any messed up parts in the morning if they are pointing in a bad direction. If you wear a bandanna to bed you will def not need to falt iron your whole head again...

2)try a hair serum of some sort, or a good thermal protecting flat iron spray...go to a salon and ask for suggestions on a product for this, they can be very helpful. Biosilk, or Regis Silk Drops are great.

3)use a moisturizing deep conditioner, or pantene conditioners for moisture.

4)you can put flat ironing products in your hair and immediately flat iron. Thats what they are for. If the product sizzles a bit while you pass over the hair, dont worry about it since that is the product getting seared and not your hair, which is a good thing. Never flat iron if your actual hair is wet from water, and dont saturate your hair in products. it's unessesary. Use a basic amount and use your good judgment.

i Ihave kinda short hair about 3-4 inches long and its also wavy and out of controll...i flat iron every day too

1) Straightening every day isnt too often only if you put the moisture you take out of your hair back in youll be okay.

2) I use bedhead contol freak serum (it fights humidity and is a thermal protector, i use nexxus heat protex as well.

3) I use infusium 23 moistureoligy shampoo and conditioner. It works really well with my hair type also nexxus hummestress is awsome to use.

4) You can use heat protection products at the same time but its better to make sure your hair is dry before ironing(blow dry before). It cuts down on the steam created by the iron which can burn your scalp.

I have been flat ironing my hair for almost 5 years now and beleive me it takes alot of experimenting with products to find out which one works the best for you. and make sure you use a good flat iron because the cheap ones will destroy your hair.

I use a flat iron on my hair EVERY day. I also have the problem with static. After you straighten your hair, take a USED dryer sheet and stroke it through your hair. Sounds odd...but it does work I swear. I do this everyday after I straighten it and it stays static free.

You did not say how you were going to straighten it. Are you using heat, or chemicals? I used to have really thick hair, so I went to the salon and got it thinned. I use Sunsilk's Straighten-Up or Suave's Sleek shampoo, both work really well. Then when my hair is damp, I use John Freida's Anti-Frizz Thermal Protection Serum, (its like a sunscreen for your hair for when you blow dry and straighten it, so its good!!!), but most of the time when I use the Suave Shampoo, I dont need the serum. I also have L'Oreal Hot!Straight creme that I also use when my hair is damp. I air dry my hair until it is damp, then I blow dry it making sure that the air is blowing downwards, so help seal in frizz and fly aways, ( I don't use a brush because that causes frizziness for me.)

I have layers so I part my hair (top layer and bottom layer) I straighten the bottom, then the top. After that I smooth my hair with a bit of John Freida's Brilliant Brunette to add some extra shine, sometimes I spray some hair spray into my hands and rub then onto the ends of my hair so that they will stay straight, without the crunchiness of spraying hairspray from the bottle.

Its a very nice haircut. Lots of layers are very nice, and its not TOO different from your current, so it'll look fine!

And don't get a perm, because you'll have to deal with roots all the time, just keep straightening it. If you're hair is VERY difficult to straighten, then get one, but if you look basically the same when its curlier, then don't.

i'm 'asian' but my hair is thick, wavy, and dry. it's mid length-so it goes down to my chest. since it's a holiday today, i have to wait till next week to get a trim. now, i'm about to go wash my hair, but i don't know how exactly i should cuz it's dry. i think i'm washing it wrong. i read alot and found out that i shouldn't use shampoo with sodium-but i have no choice right now. so should i just use about a dime size amount of shampoo and only put it on my scalp? then for conditioner, do i wait till my hair's dry or put it on when it's wet? and where? any more tips? i want to have silky straight hair like most asians have-like(look at the icons): http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus... but thats kinda impoosible for me even tho i already had jap hair straightening, but i still want something close at least XD ...thanks!

2.put a glob of shampoo the size of a golf ball in your hand. put in in all your hair. scalp especially.

I've tried my sisters straightening iron (remington wet 2 straight) with limited success it works alright on the front, top, and sides but does nothing for the back. I have extremely curly hair and the only way I've ever straightened it is by blow drying it first, then taking either a flat iron or a large barreled curling iron and straightening it. It works awesome, but is time consuming.

I have a friend with curly hair and she got her's professionally straightened. It honestly looked awful. As bad as you could imagine it turning out. That has definitely turned me away from getting mine done.

But I have heard something though. I was told that if you straighten your hair at home and have a problem with uncontrollable frizz or just the lack of any straightening then a professional straightening would only bring about the same results. So I think you saying that the back doesn't turn out could either mean it will never turn out or maybe you just need someone to do the back for you.

U need to call around some salons because not all offer it, ask if they do the chi straightener. Its permanent but as your hair grows u need to get it maintained. It costs about 300-400 dollars per hour and is less damaging than flat ironing it everyday. I worked at a hair salon that offered this and the results are very nice and people are very happy with their results. When u call, ask them to schedule a consultation so that way u know how long it will take and about how much it will be.

As for chemically straightening your hair, you will still have to daily maintenance on your hair. Some people don't realize that you still have to run a straightener over your hair. CS takes the majority of the curls out, but it can never be perfect. So, try it, it won't hurt! Just keep in mind that your regrowth will come in as curly as it was before the CS. It is not as low maintenance as people think. Try Redken's #12-a smoothing balm before blow drying and then try Redken's Spray Starch before running the straightener over the hair section.

Ceramic makes your hair shiny and smooth, and it also protects hair. The more ceramic, the better. It also doesn't damage your hair AS much as a regular flat iron.

In flat irons, i suggest the CHI. It is a little more expensive, but it has the most ceramic you would probably find in a flat iron. They are realllly good, I use one myself :]

Put a small amount of hand lotion on your hands and run your hands through your hair. You should do this after it is dried but before you style it, and don't put in too much or it will look greasy. Yes! I go to Sally Beauty stores. They have a product line called "Beyond The Zone". There is a flat iron protection spray called "Turn Up The Heat" and a shine serum called "Straight Shot". They're pretty cheap too. You could probably get both of them for like $10 to $12. They both work wonders and they both smell good too.

try teasing your hair! always work for me. Or it can also be called "backcombing". Just lift up a strand, then comb it in the OPPOSITE direction as you would normally comb your hair. ( so it's like towards your scalp). it may look a bit messy, but you can untaggle it afterwards

I understand this question is asked frequently, but I wanted to make sure I get the correct solution for my hair type. I have fine, curly hair naturally. The last time I straightened my hair chemically with a type of straightening gel was well over a month ago (perhaps two). I probably will do this again. However, I am considering purchasing a straightening iron to help keep my hair straight for a longer period of time. Is this a good idea? Also, if I do use a straightening iron, what products should I use to keep it healthy? I already have a number of FrizzEase products such as the serum, spray, devolumizing gel, secret weapon creme, straightening shampoo and conditioner, and deep conditioner... as you can see, I have a lot from that line of products. Will these suffice? Are there any products I should use directly before using the iron (or after)? Finally, if I do use an iron, how often is too often for it to be used? And some of these irons get very hot; is it easy to burn yourself?

You should definitely go with the Japanese straighteners. Yes, they're expensive but very much worth it - take it from a curly cue hair stylist. As for the irons...if it's less than $100 then don't buy it! For real. You want an ionic, true ceramic plate flat iron. You can find them at places like Ulta, Pure Beauty, etc. Just be cautious when reading the descriptions b/c they try to trick you into believing they're real ceramic plates when in fact, they're just ceramic-coated plates.

The best flat iron is a Chi flat iron, it will cost you about $120-$150 at a salon but it's well worth it. I have tried a lot of flat irons and the Chi is the only one that gives me the results I need, it heats up much hotter than any flat iron you can get elsewhere

I have to agree with the other replys, CHI is the best. I have gone threw two different irons and finally got a CHI for a gift. If i had to choose between my husband and my CHI flat iron...well he would'nt like the choice i make!

Also, if you find that the CHI oil is too thick and not giving enough coverage for your hair type then try Rush Sheer Brilliance oil. It's not made specifically for irons but has'nt caught my hair on fire yet. I straighten my hair every 3-4 days and if you don't use an oil or heat protector then you will fry it. Lots of dead and split ends.

Try to get the CHI iron, they also have a 1 year warranty and support lines for help with hair questions.

Thats too much stress on your hair sweetie, your hair will start to become dry and brittle after a while . Try washing your hair every other day or once a week if you can. Limit the blow dryer and flat iron at the same time ... do one or the other . And go to the beauty supply store and buy a protectant for heat so that you wont dry your hair too much. And if you need to blow dry and flat iron , buy a cermaic flat iron , it causes way less damage to your hair.

You need to cut back on the blow drying and curling iron as with you not conditioning to condition your hair it will get dull, burnt and split ends in no time. Try to at least do a deep conditioning once a week to help repair any damage you may have now.

I have thick curly frizzy hair. I have always wanted to have it straight. Ive purchased a expenisve salon quality ceramic straightener but even that cant tame my hair and takes forever to do.. I mean.. we are talking hours.. and thats not something I want to do every AM.

Do you think that chemically straightening hair works good? Was your hair still frizzy after? How long does it last? Will I still have to use the flat iron every morning? Someone told me it costs 200-300 dollars. Is this accurate.

Any tips/advice/feedback on this subject would be great.

Try the Japanese Straightening Perm. I have had a handful of friends get it done, and their hair looks so soft and shiny. Apparently the Japanese straightening perm is also supposed to not be damaging to your hair.

wow 200-300 dollars? no.. mine cost $65.. im not sure about your hair type, mines just really puffy but its thin... but for me it was amazing all my frizzy puffiness was gone and it lasted about 5 months.. sometimes i had to straighten it because there would be like a wave at the bottom or something but thats just because im OBSESSED with having ridiculously straight hair.

as for the damage, yes that can be a problem but if you take good care of your hair (proper shampoos, dont dye it often) than it should be fine.

i guess the best thing to do would be to find a good place to get it done because i can imagine some places can do a bad job and ask the hairdresser any further questions. they would know best.

I used mine the same as you, and it was for 18mths. I had to have my hair cut, it was way too long. All that was wrong really was at the ends, they had become dry. There was no other damage.

Firstly if you are protecting your hair with heat protector spray, there should be minimal damage!! If not using you should consider there are plenty on the market to choose from. Any heat on the hair will damage if not protected so naturally over time you will notice your ends getting dryer depending on the lenght of time the straightners are placed on the hair.

I have naturally curly hair and my whole life I've dried it straight. Since life has become more hectic lately I've decided to ditch the 2 hour hair straightening routine to go for the natural curls. Typically I'd just put in some curling spray gel and scrunch, pull the front back in a barette and just let it air dry. The curls were cute, but hard.

Recently I had my hair cut in layers to help the curl and my stylist dried with a difusser. I can't figure this out. She told me what to do and obviously showed me, too. I don't know if I'm using the wrong product now, (Tresseme curling mousse and curl milk/cream) or what.

I washed, conditioned, patted dry with the towel, put in the mousse and cream, put the difusser on the dryer, turned it on low heat, low speed like I was told--it's just poofing and not being curly. I scrunched, I had my head upside down...

How on earth do I do this?

i know it's pretty much impossible to keep ALL humidity away from hair, but please let me know if you have any idea.

tomorrow, i have picture day, right after my strength training class (which is basically gym...) we spend most of the class outside running around the track. is there anyway i can keep my hair from getting wavy after i run? it's naturally curly, so...yeah.

will putting it up help? since i like, sweat on the back of my neck? i don't know...just a thought.

and the products i have available to me are:

- paul mitchell super skinny serum.

- paul mitchell gloss drops.

- s-factor shine spray.

- garnier fructis smoothing milk.

- regular hairspray.

- alterna hemp seed straightening balm.

those are the products i THINK would help.

I've had this problem because I have been addicted to straightening my hair since freshman year and now I'm almost 20.

I would say try some hair serum, like that john frieda frizz ez stuff.. it's about 5-7 bucks and it comes in a clear bottle. You put about a quarter size amount after you shower when your hair is soaked, then blow dry it straight, then straighten it with a straightening iron. Maybe add some hair spray. That should help.

And if you are going to be really sweating then put it up loosely so you won't get a big crease.

I hate to tell you but, you may have to wear it curly. If you sweat, your hair is wet and will return to it''s natural shape. There is no way you could get it straight unless you dried it, and then flatened again. If you pull it up, you may end up with those indentions from scrunchies....I think the best thing to do is to barely work out in gym class, wear it down, and wipe the sweat away from your head as often as possible.

my school doesn't make you take classes like that on picture days. take a personal day for that class if your school offers them. your best bet would to but the straightening balm in while your hair is wet, let it airdry, straighten it, then spray it with hairspray.

Chemical straightening will always do damage to your hair, and swimming will damage it more. You can mitigate the damage by putting lots of conditioner in your hair before you get in the pool and keeping it inside a cap. Also use good shampoo and conditioner and trim your ends regularly.

Having light brown hair shouldn't make any difference at all unless your hair is dyed that color. If you have color-treated hair, chemical straightening will FRY your hair, so just don't do it!

Some of the answers on here are correct though in that when we have some downtime in the salon, we do work on each other for practice or to try something new. It sounds like your hair is dry. I would use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner as your first step. Don't use the cheap stuff as their products tend to put a coat of wax over your hair. Your hair will feel really soft, but after a while it will start to look really bad and weighed down. Your next step would be to get a heat activated spray to put on your hair while it is still wet. Then you blow dry and straighten. You shouldn't have any problems after about a week of doing this. I personally have really dry hair and I use Matrix Shampoo and Conditioner. It does the trick for me. I don't have to use a special spray.

Depending on your hair you want to make sure to extra-condition if you frequently straighten your hair. i.e. if youhave curly hair aleave in might be a good choice. Also, if you color and straighten, a mask would really help. What heat protection Spray do you use ? I know some work better than others and you need one that will protect your hair in high temperatures as ghds are very hot.

Also using a shampoo and conditoner that also protects against heat damage, Tresemme do one for weak brittle damaged hair, which is good, and also use a hair masque twice a week and use a leave in condioner as well before you straighten, also hair serum is good, fructise do a good one, and so do avon.

Go to the hair salon and tell them your hair is very unhealthy right now. They'll usually offer some kind of treatment to soften your hair. You're supposed to do those like once a month and if you do it once a month, your split ends and stuff will go away. Don't straighten your hair as much. Even if it does look bad. Mousse or gel it. lol I have super curly hair so it takes me 2 hours to straighten mine! You're lucky you can do it almost every day! i do it like once a month!

there is a great product called 'cholesteral' its a deep conditioner. it works really well for fried hair. also cut a few inches off ur hair cause the ends get very dry and thats usually what starts to look bad when damaged. also use tresseme heat protection spray. they also have shampoo and conditioner that is to protect from heat. you going to have to try to straighten your hair less often or if your straightener has a tempature setting use it on the lowest heat level.

STOP STRAIGHTENING IT!! HAHAHA. I dont use mine now unless i curl my hair or flick it up. I only blow dry my hair as slip ends were coming. Id say get your hasir trimmed first, then deep wash it like proper condition it etc and wrap it in a towel for a while and stop using irons on it for a while. Use less products on it as the less u use the more healtly it will look and feel better. I only shampoo mine at mo and blow dry it and ive noticed it looks lovely and is smoother. I have done it, and it works great. the only problems is that it is VERY expensive, and you need to do the touch ups every few months. If you dont want it straight anymore, or you dont want to pay for the touch ups- you need to cut your hair off.

Possibly....but it helps that you have virgin hair (no chemical processes at all) and you hair must be in good condition since it's a chemical process and the use of a hot flat iron on damp hair on top of that.

If you hair is already straight, I don't quit understand why you'd want to make it even straighter since it will limit you to certain styles.

My hair turned slightly curly a few years ago for no reason. No one in my family has naturally curly hair, so I don't know what happened.

Anyway, it's not really tight curls, it's loose curls and I like it, but there are times I want to straighten it, but nothing I do works.

Forget blow-drying, all that does is make it all frizzy and poofy, and if I try to use a flat iron, it takes an hour before it even resembles straight (it still isn't though.)

I have tried tons of frizz-taming and straightening products to go along with a flat iron. Nothing works.

If you want your hair to actually be straight then you need to get a quality hair straightener. If it is $60 of more it means it's good. (For example i got mine for $100 and it is the best thing I ever bought for my hair) Never try blow drying straight unless you flat iron afterwards. Never ever ever ever ever attempt straightening your hair while it is wet. It will only dry your hair out and give you split ends and damage it. Trust me, I had to cut my hair really short because of split ends (not pretty)

I have the same problem with my hair. You do need to blow dry it my hair gets big and frizzy to but it really helps. Oh also put gel in it before you dry it. Then straighten it. It might have a few spots that go back to being a little bit wavy but trust me you get used to it. Also maybe your straight iron isn't strong enough mine was about 100 dollars. But also just some time defuse it keep the natural wave.

Maybe the problem isn't what you're using but how you're using it? My hair is curly too. I can tell you what works from experience, because for years I didn't know how to straighten it on my own. Never attempt to start on soaking wet hair. Let it air dry a bit first. Do your make-up or eat breakfast first if it's in the a.m. You need to comb both a heat-protectant spray or lotion and a straightening balm though your hair. Then pin most of it up, and work in SMALL sections. As you dry the underlayers, gradually let sections of hair loose til you've done your whole head. Then run a striaghtening iron though ONLY THE PIECES that need it, in SMALL sections.

Get a GHD because they are the best.They never seem to fail. My hair used to be very long and wavy and the GHD worked. I got it cut and now its so much easier so maybe think about that otherwise i do no know!

Curls can be ironed out, but some straightening irons are better then others, no matter if the specification on the box is the same as, GHDs are the only straighteners I have found that work. It does take time, an hour is excessive but it could be if you have alot of hair it takes this long.

When you are straightening your hair, do you do it all at once? or in sections, as if you want to iron the same peice of hair over and over again, it will be fried and will become frizzy and wont look or feel good. You need to take your hair in sections, if you ever go to the hairdresser, watch what they do, they take it section by section until its flat and straight, they do it slowly and thy use heat protecting sprays. Always start with an underneath section, this is because after you have done a section and you let it fall down onto your head, it will still be warm and will mould to the hair underneath it. If the hair underneath it is not straight, you will just end up with hair thats only partialy straight, and als end up really frustrated!

When I take my hair in sections I first brush all of my hair over to the other ear, my hair is then in one seew and all in the same direction.

The I section a bit off and brush it down the normal way, straight down.

THE SECTION I TAKE IS ON WIDER THEN ONE INCH!! less if you have patience.

Then spray the section with heat protecting spray, brush this through and follow with the straightnening irons, slowly, repeat if your hair isnt straight enough.

Carry on doing one inch width sections until you reach your centre parting.

Then flick over your hair to the other ear. Repeat but on the new side.

Yu may need help on the back ot your head, as you cannot see it, but if you cannot get help, try the same method of doint a section at a time, starting at the bottom.

When your done, finish off with hair spray.

Also, I have used Boots 'straighten' fo hair, its a treatment and you apply it a bit like if you were going to be dyeing you hair (instructions in the box) it is effective and does make a difference, but you'll still need to use straightening irons, just not as much.

Mine's the same way. Not tight curls, but far from straight. And you're right ... blow-drying just makes it a frizzy, poofy mess (no matter what products I use!) and the flat iron takes forever, and the results are never worth the effort. LOL

My "everyday" fix is to apply a leave-in conditioner before brushing, followed by some Friz-ez (spelling?) before using one of those round brush-style dryers after washing. It keeps the follicle smooth and flat rather than poofy and frizzy, like regular blow-drying, and I don't generally have to use it again until the next wash. Only problem is that you'll have to perfect your own "technique" to avoid adding any waves ... either slightly turning the hair under at the ends or flipping them out for a bit of a stylish, layered look. ;)

A more permanent option is to get one of those reverse perms. I'm sure there's a more official name (LOL), but my sister-in-law is a stylist and does them all the time. In fact, she did her own recently (same hair type), and it looks great! Of course, that's only if you want to keep it on the straighter side for the next few weeks/months (depending on how long your hair might hold the perm). It's really nice, though. Extra smooth and shiny, with no fly-aways or frizzies. I'd have her do mine if I wasn't pregnant. LOL Maybe in a few months ... ;)

Forgot to mention ... the round brush mentioned above dries my (very-long, very-thick!) hair from shower to straight in about 15 minutes.

Don't do anything directly after a chemical treatment. Hot oil just coats your hair until the next time you wash it. I used to use it, until I found better products and that it really doesn't do much for the long haul. It's better to go into a salon and ask what they use for deep heating treatments. If it is top of the line products such as Paul Mitchell, Matrix. Joico, Aveda and they put you under heat for 20 - 30 minutes, that's what you want. Do it monthly.

Hot oil is a conditioner not a process so you can do it after any chemical process. It makes your hair softer and shinier. If you use the right oil you can prevent dandruff. I recommend olive oil mixed with shea butter or jojoba oil.

First off, you really need a good shampoo and conditioner. Try the Theratin shampoo and Humectin conditioner from Phyto Organics by Nexxus. Now you need a good leav-in, try the Instracure from Matrix Essentials which will help detangle your hair and feel smooth and healthy. After that straighten your hair with a CHI iron, available at most salons, then after straightening, use Silk Infusion oil from CHI which will leave your hair shiny and frizz free. To finish off, since it's rainy season, find a good humidty resistant hairspray, my fav is the BigSexyHair hairspray or Performa from Matrix Essentials.

PS: You need to get a trim to cut off the dead ends.

i use jizzit. You can pick up at walmart, or walgreens. What settings do you have your hot iron? Make sure it is on low. If you cant afford jizzit, use rubbing alcohol. contioning treatments are essential this are the only condtioners that go inside the hair and repair this were as normal condtioners just smooth the outside.

secondly sounds like the straighters you have got are not to good try ghd or remmingtons which are brilliant. The hotter the straighters the smoother and straighter you hair will be.

make sure you use shine spray before using straightners and use a comp the hair while straighting it which will smooth the hair and allow the straightens to do the work

I would say first of all, stop using your straighting iron. You are just ruining your hair. Then I would invenst in the hair mask products. Two good ones are : Aussie 3 Minute Mircale and Neutrogena Hair Mask. The best way to use the products is shampoo youre hair when you first get in the shower and then put the mask in, and let the heat sink into the hair. It really does work I swear.

Make sure you also invest in shampoo and condintenor that are for dry and damanged hair. Also might as well get a couple of inches cut off. That will definlay help.

Then later on, invest in a straightner that doesnt get SUPER hot bc that damages youre hair more. Some get 800 degrees thats too hott and you are just ruining youre hair.

And when you straighten youre hair make sure you put a heat protection on it. Example Loreal makes a great on in a pink bottle I cant exalty remember the name. And always rinse in cold water, makes hair shiner!!

If it is only a little damage, get all of the damage cut off, if it is a lot you can either get it all cut off at once or get a trim as it grows until the damage is gone. Cholesterol is a great hair strengthener. Use it after you shampoo about once a week. You can use a shampoo and conditioner on a daily or bi-daily basis that is made or curly or frizzy hair. Sunsilk and Frizz Ease are wonderful choices and they are both sold at Walmart. You should also use a daily leave-in conditioner before you blow dry and a heat protector before you use your hot iron. Make sure that you don't have your flat iron on too if you don not need it to be. If yo have fly-aways you can use a smoothing serumor an oil sheen. You can never use too much conditioner. Also, stay hydrated. I hope this helps!

Yeah go for it, you can get a relaxer put in it so it is permanently straightened untill it grows out. It works really well Ive had it done before and I had straight hair for about 5 months. But make sure you have them give you a deep conditioning treatment afterward cuz it can damage your hair a little.

My suggestion, DO NOT CHEMICALLY STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR!!!! It will fry it, be extremely brittle and break off easy. I have naturally curly hair so I know how it is to straighten it daily but in the long run it's much better for your hair.

when you're hair is damp. take hair moose and gel and scrunch your hair in your hands all through you hair. it makes it very curly. or...if you want more difined curls... you can put curling moose in your hair. then let it air dry, and take a curling iorn and curl different pieces of your hair!

any way i'm sure it will look great. and if you want. you can always just pull your hair up into a ponytail, and put a cute headband in it!

Yes. I got this "Japanese Hair Straitening" thing done at a salon, it was expensive but my hair stayed straight for a long time. I would recommend it. buy a GOOD hair straignter like a paul brown, GHD, expenisve but they work and keep curly hair straight, without making it look half done. use heat protective lotions on your hair before so your hair doesnt dry out/ burn. long hair looks great straighten( but so does long curly hair) it works better if your hair is styled to suit your face shape, blowdry your hair first then straighten it in small sections. use a treament on your hair once in a while so your hair doesnt look un healhty etc.

my hair is naturally curly too, i hate it but i think everyone hates hair they dont have, but my hair always looks good when straightens and shaped around my face, although my hairs blonde so i use more treatments because blonde hair if left untreated breaks and looks dead more easily then brunettes

I don't get stressed to easy, but i am always so worried about getting ready for the day in time!! I LOVE traveling, and going on road trips, sleepovers, and such but i am hesitant to do it because i am afraid after i wake from sleeping and it is time for me to get ready i never ever have enough time! I always seem to be making people wait! and i hate that, its not only so rude, its so frustrating too, and it makes me anxious!!

If you are really trying to cut back on your time, you could do something easier then styling your hair every morning. Especially at camp. I don't think your hair needs to be really cute at camp. For camp days, you could just put your hair in a ponytail. Oh, and if you don't want to be still getting ready so late in the morning, get up earlier. Another time saver is to know what you are going to do the day before. Just relax and don't freak. You'll have time.

you can get wet 2 straight if you dont have it so you can straighten your hair wet, take a little less time in the shower, and use make up thats easier to use and put on. i had to do it for school because it took me an hour and a half and now it takes me an hour so i shortened the time by a lot. good luck!!!

I use John Frieda Sheer Blonde shampoo and conditioner and once in a while use the stay in conditioner. I use either sheer blonde moose or a no frizz moose and then tresemme heat protection and blow dry my hair but still goes frizzy and doesn't stay in place wen i go out. I sometimes use the serum to keep the frizz down or hairspray to keep it in place but doesn't seem to work. I do use straighteners (good ones) but still doesn't seem to be luck. Any ideas? Thanks

I have natural curly hair. Well you can say it is not even curly.....it is kinky.. I can't even wear a ponytail with it. I can just wear it in a bun or as a plait. I have shoulder length hair and it doesn't even grow longer than that.

this is how I do my hair, mine is the same as yours and this works. Get some shampoo, conditioner, mousse and hairspray for curly hair. After washing your hair, comb your hair through to get rid of knots, then tip your head upside down so the hair hangs down in front of your face, now scrunch it all over really tightly with your hands. Now, wrap it in a towel for about 10 minutes to absorb any extra wetness. Take the towel off and leave your hair to dry naturally, keep scrunching it all over with your hands every now and again til it is almost dry. Then apply a golf ball size amount of mousse, scrunch it evenly through your hair. The dry your hair with a diffuser, tip your head upside down and keep scrunching it while you dry, flick your head from side to side every so often while doing this, it will not take long to dry. While your head is still upside down, spray it with a light mist of hair spray, then flick your head upright again. It will look a bit bushy to start but does settle after 5 minutes or so. I hope that helps you, the best advice is get products for your hair type. Try Umberto Giannini, they smell great.

Well were do i start, i have very curly hair and I am in desperate need of a new hair look.

I am 15 years old and I honestly feel embarrassed about the way my hair is currently, please make some suggestions, whatever they may be, if you are ever referring to hairstyles please post a picture of it.

I have a job so money is not an issue to an extent, so i could afford a 300$ hair straightening or more expensive hair products/cuts.

I myself have curly hair and have always liked the fact that I don't look like everyone else. But, if your hair bothers you that much I found a hairstyle that I think would also look good on you. You could get chemical straightening which makes your hair straight even after you shower for about 9 months.

It costs around $150 - $200 but you may get tired of it.

You could always invest in a straightener, but that requires work in the morning so if you're lazy I wouldn't recommend it.

But seriously, borrow a straightener and try it, if you like - knock yourself out (on hair products ha)
