You really don't need to go to a professional, there are cheap flat irons(straightening iron) in Wal-Mart. Plus, the straightings from a professional would come out the next day, if your a cleany person and wash your hair every day, it would go back to curly, and you wont have to waste 100$ even if you are rich.

When I lived in San Francisco I went to Hair Play on Church Street. It's a fun atmosphere and they do a good job with cuts and color.. The website says a new relax is $100+ (probably depending on the length of hair).. I am not sure if that is too pricey or not. Good luck!
