How bad are chemicals that straighten hair?

i have never straightened my hair and i want to . i heard irons are bad bcz of the heat but are the chemical creams worse??

Also there is the benefit that you will use the iron a lot less if the hair is straighter to begin with. You still might use it some though.

If you are african american and you want to straighten your hair start witha mild relaxer like just for me or go to a salon. I would not advise using hot combs and things like that becuase it will break your hair if you do it too much

if you scratch your scalp alot-wash your hair a day before .....the relaxer will burn your hair may possibly catch on fire(not really) but it will burn.....if you don't scratch then you don't have nothing to worry about......heat is bad for your hair/may damage your hair...but its cool to use every once in awhile

if ur not careful tha chemical creams could dry your hair out but i straighten my hair almost everyday and if you use sumthing like pink oil moisturizer or heat guard stuff then it wont burn!

chemicals are probably worse, but i no from expirience that irons give you split ends. but it seems to me that curly hair gets splits anyway... but conditioner helps.

chemicals are not as bad as actually straightening it. straitening fries Ur hair chemicals can be washed out or moisturized back healthy. if u do decide to straighten your hair get a ceramic straightener it does way less damage to your hair. and helps minimize split ends and helps hair look healthy not fried
