Any smoothening product in your hair will work wonders, and you won't see much poof(: also, it depends on your straighener, cheaper ones seem to cause more frizz and poof than the more expensive ones. but good hair protecting products should do you fine

i spray some hairspray on my hands and wipe it in my hair from part on down, very quickly, and then spray some more and smear it on another part of my head, and then i run my fingers through it so that it doesn't get all hard and stick together.

you could also try watering down some hairspray and putting that in a spray bottle and then spraying that straight onto your hair, then it doesn't get hard and sticks down pretty well, but then when the water fades away, the hairspray will still be there

i also use some aveda moose stuff after i straighten

well i would star of by making sure that you have a great straightening iron, then you should condition your hair in the shower for like 5 min every day, good product for hair whe you straighten your hair would be in a good hair salon, if not you can buy citre shine anti-frizz serum, you can out that before and after.

Before straiting your hair make sure your hair is soft, and has very little knots. Having knots will make your hair very hard to straiten. After you have straitened your hair use some cream for the hair. DON'T use hair spray. It makes your hair wavy/curly and God knows what! Hair spray also ruins your scalp. I am not saying all hair sprays are bad but stick with Sunsilk. It works wonders. Only use a LITTLE BIT. When you go to bed leave your hair down, don't put it in buns braids etc. It will make your hair look its original way. Use some baby oil too , it makes your hair very smooth.Don't over straiten your hair it will ruin your scalp!

Use John Frieda's secret weapon cream. It's made to keep hair in place and it makes my hair really smooth. But if you do use it only use a little and rub it between your hands and then apply, don't put a glob on one spot!
