How to straighten hair thats only a few inches long?

I am new to the whole hair straightener concept, especially for guys it can be weird. But, I was wondering if there was a way to straighten hair the correct way. I have a decent straightener and used it for my bangs. I am going for the scene style but not so hardxcore.

I am having trouble with the straightener because it burns when i lay it against my forehead ..lol. Now my hair is sticking up in a horizontol fashion instead of down. My hair is only like 2 inches long! The straightener barely runs threw the strands of hair. How can I overcome this?

Any ways or styles to go about the hair straightener in a fashionable sense?

I use hair glue, but sometimes my hair looks caked any tips on this also?

if you were really desperate. you could get the chemical used to perm hair.. and put it on your hair .. then comb it out so it will be straight.. but i don't know that would work very well..

Start at the scalp and move down from there (careful not to burn yourself). If it sticks up go to the store and get some styling gell or a hairspray of somesort.

This is a chi straightener... it may be a bit expensive, but it's only 1/2 wide.... it doesn't necessarily have to be a "CHI" but look for straighteners of that size... they are usually used for guys hair... also use TIGI products they have all sorts of hair products for all types of guys hair....

Hope this helps
