Yeah i know what youre talking about it's also called Thermal Reconditioning ,which is the common name they call it in the U.S.

The process for Japanese hair straightening goes as follows:

The stylist assesses the hair type and condition.

The hair is washed.

If necessary, protein is applied to the hair. There is a small extra charge for this procedure, but it is possible for the customer to end up with less than satisfactory results if the protein is not applied.

The first solution, which breaks the hair's disulfide bonds, is applied.

The stylist rinses the first solution out of the hair when he or she deems it necessary.

The hair is partially blow dried.

The hair is ironed in small sections with a thermal straight iron.

The second solution, which reforms the broken disulfide bonds, is applied.

Hair is rinsed and conditioned.

Hair is blow dried once more.

The procedure is not particularly effective for tightly curled hair[!!] or hair that has already undergone serious chemical treatments!!So if you naturally have kinky hair,or African american locks this process might not be a good idea for ya!

And as with any chemical procedure, an experienced technician is essential.Oh yeah,prices reach up to $700 bucks too!!

I think you're talking about thermal reconditioning. I asked a question about it a few weeks ago and was told that it's only appropriate if you have some mixed funny hair. Here's a link to a great site that someone left me:

Don't waste your time, a Japanese straightening process is no more than a perm. Yeah it will work but you will waste your money. It only lasts until your hair grows again.
