This is nothing more than a hair relaxer and you should not..I repeat should not do this for the 1st time at home by yourself. YOU ARE NOT A PRO AND YOU RUN THE RISK OF OVERPROCESSING YOU HAIR!!! Chemicals are bad for your hair period and with extended use they WILL dry out and damage your hair. If you do choose to use this stuff, you will need to be constantly deep conditioning your hair 2xs a week. I mean, it is technically safe, but you never know how your own hair will react to these products. I used to relax my hair for years until i realized how dry and rough my hair became. My mom did the same and is now wearing a wig. Why not use a chi ceramic iron? These things are GREAT and wont damage your hair. Or the maxiglide??

I have never used the product that you are talking about but I do use a product for thermal straightening that has ammonium thioglycolate in it and it does not do anything harmful to the hair if it is applied right it will damage the hair i just hope that you do it properly and I would also advise you to make sure that after you do it that you make sure that you use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner on your hair because most of the hair straighteners that are out there will dry your hair out so you need to put the moisture back in.

wella is a proffesional product and has a phone number on the box that you can call. they should be able to answer any questions u might have. wella has been around for years therefore u know its a product you can trust but be careful cause if your hair has any process used in the last 6 months like coloring or perm the results could be not so good. this product is used in the salon. i know i used to be a hair dresser and i used this product daily on customers. wella would not put a product out there cause they could get sued. you can go to sally beauty supply and also ask them. if you can not come to a decision after talking to those two sources than do not use it.

I seriously don't know how you got that if you are not a professional. Please do not do it to yourself. The product is probably safe to use on your hair but if you have never had training with the product don't put it on yourself. Go to a professional otherwise you may regret it.

it's okay but don't do it your self , go to a shop. You can get real bad burns and have to be real careful. I have seen all the hair fall out from this procedure

I must join in the parade of advice not to do this yourself. This is not a good home project especially if you have any color or other types of chemicals on your hair. Find a stylist in you area that specializes in various methods of hair straightening so that he/she can recommend the best method for your texture of hair.

Don't straighten ur hair because IT DRIES OUT YOUR HAIR!!!!! Go to the hair salon to get ur hair done by chic..... I'm 14 and it costs $260 (that's the lowest price depending how short ur hair is.)

This sounds like it has almost the same ingredients as a perm. Sometimes a perm is used to straighten curly hair. I would recommend that you actually go into a salon and let them help you with your hair.

okay now that you heard from the other half of the world let me provide you with my answer too. first thing the ingredients you mentioned are in just about in every relaxer out in the market right now otherwise it will not straighten the hair. also if you are looking to put it in by yourself the first time i suggest reading the directions carefully. have a timer next to you so you will not overprocess the hair. rinse out well and use the neutralizer shampoo twice before adding conditioner. i hope you have setting lotion so that way you won't end up with a straight mess you know fuzzy and shyt. also it best to dry the hair after applying the lotion either by blow dryer or portable dryer(the one you sit underneath). style as usual curling rods, rollers,or set. if you would like you can email me if you have any other questions soshicstudiio@yahoo.com. Have fun be careful and if you find yourself nervous or scared in perming your hair go to the nearest hair salon. Chow!!!

If you insist on doing it your self at least have someone help you and follow the directions carefully. I really would not do it myself.

Amonium thioglycolate (thio) is the correct chemical for straightening. It is also used for giving curl to straight hair, but that's another story. Where did you purchase this product because it sounds like a professional product and i know you can't get Wella except through a distributor now. Over the counter relaxers are usually guanine-based rather than thio.

If you insist on doing it yourself (I recommend a salon) be sure to follow the directions very carefully. Be sure to rinse everything out very, very carefully to avoid chemical burns and gradual hair breakage. I would suggest using a timer because if it says to rinse for 5 minutes - sometimes 1 minute feels like 5.

Good luck
